Episode Two – The Body:
Baptism and Christian Community
The second series episode focuses on
how individuals are joined with the body of Christ through baptism and how the
idea of community is essential to the worship experience. The first half of the episode
explores the rite of baptism and explains the history behind the various
methods and traditions associated with the practice in Protestant, Catholic,
and Orthodox churches.
Part two examines the connection between faith practice and a sense of
community, from Biblical times to the present, including a visit to the Harvest
Ranch Cowboy Church, an unusual community of believers that celebrate the
country lifestyle with uniquely western elements including a saddle bag for a
pulpit, a horse trough for a baptismal font, and a weekly chuck wagon meal.
